Exclusive McPullish Review in
"The Beat" magazine by Chuck Foster

McPullish is one man's musical DUB vision, realized after years of studying the art of DUB and reggae music through listening, playing, and mixing hundreds of shows mainly in Washington, Colorado, Texas and California so far, developing a unique set of musical skills along the way. McPullish has produced original songs with Luciano, Judge, Chezidek, the Original General Smiley, Ninja Ford, Fantan Mojah, Ginjah, Aimann Raad, Red Lion,
and many more... plus many more to come

McPullish is available for booking as a solo DUB artist, or as a dynamic reggae duo with Judge on vocals.

McPullish began in Seattle in 2002, spent 3 years stationed in Denver, Colorado and is now based in Austin, Texas where he operates his studio-the DUB Compound .

There are only a handful of artists worldwide doing this type of DUB performance live, and few if any play all the instruments as live overDUBs in the studio. McPullish compositions are played in real time, usually the first take, and never sequenced or quantized in a computer. This process gives McPullish a unique, signature sound that stands out from the "computer dub" crowd and the typical roots reggae sound. McPullish sounds like real music played by a human being on real instruments and is therefore often mistaken for a full band by casual listeners.

McPullish plays drums, bass, guitar, keys, synth, melodica, percussion and whatever else is within reach. Guests appear on vocals, saxophone, sitar, flute and percussion, etc. McPullish has been recording original compositions since the age of 12 and worked on a variety of productions all over the musical spectrum before becoming a certified DUB maniac.

McPullish has performed with and opened for: Mad Professor, Easy Star All Stars, Contra Coup, Grimy Styles, Drums and Tuba, the Delfonics (yes the original Delfonics!) Dr Dubbist, DJ Chicken George, DJ Sep (dubmission sf), DJ Drez and Zaire Black, selectah Albert Walker and Dojo to name a few highlights.

McPullish is one of the most spontaneous, engaging electronic DUB performers operating with his own trademark sound and boatloads of fresh, original music at his disposal.

McPullish organized and operated Charlie's Dub Corner, a soundsystem second stage at the 2008 Austin Reggae Fest, which attracted tens of thousands of reggae and dub enthusiasts from all over the world for 2 days of reggae and dubwise music. Charlie's Dub Corner will be a regular feature at this yearly event.

2008 saw the release of BACK TO MT ZION RIDDIM CD (May 6 2008 on Charlie's Records) a brand new one riddim album produced, played and mixed by McPullish featuring new songs by vocalists Chezidek, Luciano, Fantan Mojah, Judge, Red Lion, Ginjah, Ninja Ford and Aimann Raad.

3 singles from the Back To Mt Zion Riddim series(LUCIANO, CHEZIDEK, FANTAN MOJAH + McPullish dubs) were in the top 10 best selling singles category for the months of April/May 2008 on Ernie B's- ebreggae.com, McPullish's main US distributor and the world's largest independant reggae distributor. McPullish songs have been played on the BBC, KEXP, KGNU, and hundreds of the best reggae/electronic/DUB,etc radio and internet shows.

In 2007, McPullish began working live and in the studio with Judge, a vocalist from the Caribbean island St. Vincent who earlier that year relocated to Austin, Texas. Judge is a dynamic live performer known for his rapid-fire freestyle lyrical abilities, audience interaction and his commanding vocal and stage presence.

Together McPullish and Judge create powerful, original reggae music for the next generation of DUBheads, combining elements of roots reggae, dancehall, DUB, hip hop, electronic, jazz and their many diverse influences. Judge's lyrics are original and deal with conscious Rasta themes including life, love and happiness, hard work and education, herb, life as a Rasta in modern society -NO slack (explicit) or violent dancehall lyrics can be found in his repertoire with McPullish.

Paul Baker is the live visual artist behind McPullish's live visual spectacle and is also available to add his amazing visuals to live McPullish performances. Paul has worked with sub oslo, mcpullish, and scores of artists/bands in a variety of genres and created the live McPullish video "Dub Change I"
